🌿 Why launching a hotel soap line isn't so simple (and how we found the solution)

Unsolicited advice:
“You should make hotel soaps!”

Thank you, Jean-Michel.
It's true that offering solid soaps for hotels , guest rooms , spas or even glamping is an excellent idea.
But if we hadn't done it earlier at Savonnerie Ciment, there was a good reason.

✅ Why making soaps for hotels is a brilliant idea

Creating a range of mini solid soaps for tourist establishments ticks all the strategic boxes:

🌕 Large purchase volume
🌓 Recurring orders
☀️ Increased visibility for the brand
💫 Possibility of resale in full-size format in store

It is also an excellent gateway to introduce our world:
beautiful, artisanal soaps, made in France, with organic ingredients and a strong identity.

But as is often the case in crafts, reality catches up with desire.

🧼 The artisan's challenge with mini formats

Where industry can produce thousands of miniature soaps per minute, we artisans proceed with care.
And slowness.

Each soap is:

hand-cast
cut out
stamp
labeled
packed… one by one

And this, whether it weighs 12g or 112g.

💥 Result: packaging 3000 mini-soaps requires as much human time as 3000 large formats.

We quickly have the image of the groundhog putting the chocolate in the aluminum foil.
(And to be honest, sometimes we were the groundhog.)

💡 The simple solution: remove the packaging

We have looked at the problem from every angle.
And the answer was right there under our noses :
What if we removed the packaging?

✨ Our mini-soaps are now delivered “naked”, accompanied by a small personalized card :

in the colors of the hotel or establishment
with logo
and legal notices on the back

Benefits :

✅ Zero waste
✅ A visually enhanced soap
✅ A souvenir that the customer can take home

🧼 A soap that becomes an object of decoration (and communication)

Our soaps are designed to be beautiful.
With their geometric patterns and soft colors, they attract the eye .
Why hide them in packaging?

So yes, Jean-Michel, you were right.
Making soaps for the hotel industry is an excellent business idea .
But as is often the case in crafts, it was necessary to find the right balance between desire, feasibility, and commitment .
